Rachel Aaron, author of the Legend of Eli series, ha a great article on her blog where she discusses key changes she made to her writing process that allowed her to dramatically increase her daily word count totals. The article is actually from a few years ago (it’s dated June 8, 2011), but it makes some excellent points about preparation as well as not being afraid to cut scenes. You know, the kind of advice most all of us need at some point and the kind of advice that doesn’t go stale despite having been written four years ago.
I would strongly recommend that all of you take a look and see if the ideas she presents can help you with your own writing.
“How I Went From Writing 2,000 Word a Day to Writing 10,000 Words a Day” by Rachel Aaron.
Enjoy.
